Going to School with Your Feeding Tube 🐾

Hi there, friend!
Starting school is a big adventure! You might feel excited, a little nervous, or even both—and that’s okay. If you have a feeding tube, you might wonder how things will work at school. Guess what? You’re not alone, and there are lots of ways to help you feel safe and happy.

Let’s walk through it together 🐶✨

Your Special School Plan

Before you go to school, the grown-ups in your life (like your parents, doctors, and teachers) make a special plan just for you. This plan helps everyone know how to take care of you during the day—kind of like a map to keep things running smoothly!

Here are a few kinds of plans you might hear about:

🐕 Your IEP (Super Support Plan)

This is a big, helpful plan for kids who need extra support at school.

It can include things like:

  • When it’s time for your feeding
  • A quiet, comfy place to relax
  • A nurse or helper who knows how to care for your tube

This plan makes sure everyone remembers exactly what you need.

🐾 Your 504 Plan (Helping Hands Plan)

This plan helps make school easier and more comfortable for you.

It might include:

  • Time to do your feeding
  • A safe place for your supplies
  • Grown-ups who can help if you need it

It’s like having a team cheering you on all day!

🦴 Your Health Plan (Care Plan)

This plan tells your school how to take care of your body.

It helps teachers and nurses know:

  • What your daily routine looks like
  • What to do to keep you feeling your best

Sometimes this plan works together with the other plans too!

You’ve Got a Whole Team!

At school, you’ll have lots of helpers—teachers, nurses, and other grown-ups—who want you to feel safe, strong, and ready to learn.

And don’t forget…
YOU are the most important part of the team! 💛

You can:

  • Tell a grown-up if something doesn’t feel right
  • Ask questions
  • Share what helps you feel better

Ready for Your Big Adventure!

Going to school with a feeding tube might feel new, but you are brave, capable, and never alone.

With your special plan and your team by your side, you can:

  • Learn new things 📚
  • Make friends 🧸
  • Have fun every day 🎨

You’ve got this, little buddy. And just like a happy golden doodle, you’re ready to explore, play, and shine! 🐶✨
