Ava’s Howl-iday Traditions:
Fun for All Kids with Feeding Tubes

Medically Reviewed by Laura Cancel, RD, LD, CN, Enteral Feeding Specialist
Happy Howl-idays from me, Ava the golden doodle 🐾! I have got paws-itively awesome ideas for celebrating that are full of fun. Since I have a feeding tube too, I know holidays can feel tricky. But there are so many ways to enjoy the season, no matter your abilities!
Deck the Halls
Decorating can be simple and fun. Kids can press big buttons to turn on lights, hang soft ornaments, or add stickers to windows. Every paw—or hand—makes the space brighter!
Crafty Creations
Try easy crafts like finger painting holiday cards, decorating foam stickers, or coloring big paper snowflakes. Adapt supplies so everyone can join in.
Sing & Tell
Listening to carols, jamming along to music, or reading a holiday book makes story time and song fun for all. Acting out parts can be as small as a silly sound effect or a big role in a play!
Kindness Counts
All kids can share kindness—like helping sign a card, smiling for a picture, or choosing toys to donate. Every little act spreads cheer.
Light-Up Adventures
Drive through neighborhoods or watch holiday light shows from a warm car. Explore virtual light displays together online is another fun option.
Holiday Memories
Family photos, short videos, or memory boxes filled with keepsakes let every child share traditions in their own way.
See? Holidays are about joy, kindness, and making memories—not just food.
✨ What about you? What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Woofs and wags,
Ava 🐶
