National Nutrition Month®

Medically Reviewed by Laura Urias, MCN, RD, CSO, LD, Registered Dietitian

Hello superstars! It’s your pal Ava here, ready to wag into March and help you celebrate National Nutrition Month®. Every year, kids and families across the country learn how to take good care of their bodies with healthy nutrition. And guess what? Whether you eat by mouth, use a feeding tube, or do a little of both, this month is for you too!

This year’s theme is “Discover the Power of Nutrition,” which means we get to sniff out all the things that help our bodies feel strong, happy, and full of energy. Even if you don’t eat or drink by mouth, you still make important choices every day—like picking the right formula, planning your feeding schedule, staying hydrated, and working with your care team. That’s all part of good nutrition, and you’re doing a paws-itively awesome job!

And just imagine me cheering you on with a big tail wag and a happy woof! 🐾

Tips for Kids Who Can Eat or Drink

If you can eat or drink a little by mouth, this month is a great time to try new foods or drinks that help your body. You might explore soft foods, colorful fruits, or warm soups. If your family blends food for your tube, maybe you can help pick fun new ingredients—like berries, sweet potatoes, or leafy greens. Even tiny changes can make your meals a real treat!

Tips for Kids Who Use Formula

If most or all of your nutrition comes from formula, that’s paw-some too! Formula gives your body the energy it needs to grow, play, and chase after the things you love. You can be a nutrition superhero by sticking to your feeding schedule, drinking enough water, and telling your caregiver or doctor if something feels a little ruff. Small adjustments can help you feel your very best.

No matter how you get your nutrition, you’re doing a fur-tastic job taking care of your body. National Nutrition Month® reminds us that everyone has the power to stay strong and healthy. And your pal Ava is sending you the biggest tail wags and puppy cheers for being the amazing superstar you are! 💛🐾
