Keep It Cool! Summer Food Tips 🐾❄️

Medically Reviewed by Shana Vold, RD, LD, CNSC, Enteral Feeding Specialist

Hi friends! When it’s hot outside (that sun can be ruff ☀️), it’s really important to keep formula and blended food nice and cool. Whether heading out for a quick trip or a longer adventure, keeping food at the right temperature helps it stay safe and fresh.

Short Trips:
Just going out for a little while? A small lunchbox cooler is a great choice. It keeps food cool and has space for feeding supplies too. Easy to carry and ready to go—no need to worry!

All-Day Adventures:
If it’s a full day out, a soft cooler works well. There’s plenty of room for food and drinks, and it’s still easy to carry. Add some ice packs, and everything can stay cold for hours.

Overnight Trips:
Going on a longer trip without a fridge? A large, sturdy cooler is your best option. It can keep food cold for days, so everything stays fresh while you’re out exploring.

Other Cool Ideas:
For smaller amounts, insulated bottles are a great pick. They keep liquids cold for hours, are easy to clean, and fit right into a bag or backpack—perfect for staying cool on the go.

Stay Safe:
Always check that food is still cold before using it. If formula or blended food has been out for more than 2 hours, it’s best to throw it away. Staying safe is what matters most!
